The Lakes Distillery is flying the flag as a world class whisky producer, after being named one of the 8 Distilleries to visit before you die by World Whisky Day!
To visit all the distilleries in the world would take a lifetime (although an enjoyable lifetime at that!), so, World Whisky Day whittled them down to eight distilleries for the bucket list… Not a bad spot for a business that hit the ground running a short three years ago!
We recently achieved a Masters in ‘Best Distillery Facilities’ at the Global Distillery Awards for the third year running. This gave us plenty to celebrate, and showcased our success and efforts to celebrate our beautiful surroundings here in the Lake District. This additional acclaim is simply the icing on the cake, and we’re completely thrilled to be recognised for our efforts.
We were featured alongside whisky giants, including Glenfiddich and Bushmills – showcasing our rapidly increasing mark on the whisky world, as we enter our third year of production. Nigel Mills, our Chairman, said: “Being named alongside such prestigious names as Glenfiddich is is a great testament to the work we have done promoting our products and English whisky as a whole. This announcement will attract new visitors to the area, helping us to fund our business objectives, as well as contributing to the local economy, as whisky fans from across the globe make it their mission to tick off the world’s number one distillery.”
After our incredibly successful crowdfunding initiative last year saw 2,521 people buy a stake of a £1.75m share sale, we’re planning for 2018 to be the year that will put English whisky on the map!
Our very first single malt whisky, The Lakes Genesis Single Malt, will a beautifully handcrafted spirit in an exquisite decanter, with a limited release of 101 bottles, non-chill filtered, of natural colour and bottled at cask-strength.
Steel Bonnets will be the world’s first ever blend of the finest English and Scotch Malt Whisky, presented in a magnificent embossed bottle and presentation tin.
The Quatrefoil Collection, released later in the summer, will be a four-year, limited edition offering with a bold sherry cask focus. This will be presented in the name of our mantra; Faith, Hope, Luck & Love.
With an extremely exciting year ahead of us, Nigel commented, “This ranking has put England firmly on the map as a top whisky destination, paving the way for further progress into what has always been an exclusive industry steeped in secrecy and pride.”
