This fantastic accolade is a testament to our impeccable standards, of which the assessor felt were truly deserving of recognition.
We are thrilled to announce that we have received an absolutely glowing review, complete with a Gold Award, from VisitEngland. For those of you who have visited the Distillery, this will of course be no surprise!
VisitEngland is the largest official assessment body of its kind when it comes to visitor attractions, with over 24,000 participating businesses. But this award is not simply about the quality of the facilities; everything from website performance to our exceptional customer experience is taken into account. In short, it encapsulates everything from the larger picture to the little things that make The Lakes Distillery a truly special place to visit in this tranquil part of the Northern Lakes.
VisitEngland Director Andrew Stokes said winners of a Gold Award offer “a warm welcome, unique storytelling, high quality food and drink, and unparalleled customer service and rightly deserve these accolades. They provide visitors with amazing experiences and create reasons to travel the length and breadth of the country, increasing the economic benefits of tourism.”
Now in its 29th year, the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence are firmly established as representing the highest accolade in English tourism. Holders of the VisitEngland Gold Award offer the ‘best of the best’, from the range of facilities and services they offer, to the ability of staff to delight their visitors. In summary, a high star rating means top quality in all areas and all the services expected of that classification of accommodation.
Paul Currie, our Founder and Managing Director said, “We are delighted to be recognised with the highest accolade in English tourism, which is a fitting testament to the passion and hard work of all of our team. Producing the perfect whisky is only half of our vision for the business, as a visitor centre we are constantly striving to ensure guests have a great experience on every visit, and this proves that in such a short amount of time, we are really getting things right.
“Looking ahead to a year of English whisky history, the timing couldn’t be better, as we launch our first single malt, and release Steel Bonnets, the world’s first English and Scotch blend.”
We are incredibly humbled and we continuously strive to give the best possible experience for our visitors. If you have had a good experience with us recently, why not give us a review on Trip Advisor, or get in touch with us on Facebook or Twitter?
