Recycling guidance
Inspired by the United Nation's Sustainable Development
Goals, our Ethical Roadmap sets out our commitment to treating our environment
with the respect it deserves.
However, we can’t do this alone. In the order and consumption of our spirits,
we invite you to join us on our mission to reduce waste and minimise our
environmental footprint. Please note these recommendations are against UK
recycling guidance.
Enjoy The Lakes responsibly
The journey our spirits have been on to make it into your glass has been a long one, and we encourage you to savour that carefully in the flavours we have designed.
Recycle glass
The Lakes glass bottles have been designed in the UK and produced locally in a production facility in Leeds. We kindly ask you to dispose of them responsibly in your household recycling, or within a local collection point for glass. Our bottle labels are printed in Glasgow and do not need to be removed before recycling.
Natural Cork
Our bespoke single malt stoppers are made from cork, a natural, regenerative product sourced from Portugal. Combined with a wooden top, and distinctive metal coin, our composite stopper should be removed from the bottle before recycling and disposed of in general household waste.
Hygiene tamper seal
This protective seal is made from class 3 flexible PVC plastic, and unfortunately is not recyclable.
Gift box
We present our Signature Single Malt in a top-loading rigid box which is fully recyclable Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified board, and widely collected at kerbside. The inks used are water-based and varnishes & foils are below the 5% allowance for contaminants of fibre based packaging.
Ecommerce packaging
Our bespoke protective ecommerce corrugate packaging is FSC certified and is widely recycled.
Gift box with magnets
We present our limited edition Single Maltx in a side-loading rigid box. Due to the construction of the gift box using plastic, solid board and magnetics you will need to separate the components to allow for the box to be recycled.
- Plastic base and top holder for the bottle are to go into general waste.
- Remove 8 magnets in total (6 along the opening edge & one each on either corner).
- Once these elements are removed the remaining solid board can be placed into recycling bin along with other fibre based packaging.
Being a responsible creator
One of the key pillars of the roadmap is our focus on being a responsible maker and distributor of spirits. This encompasses the operation of the distillery and building an ethical supply chain from production to packaging to consumption.
- Positive Impact on the Environment
- Sustainable Packaging
- Ethical Supply Chain
- Responsible Consumption
