We are delighted to announce our partnership with The Lake District Foundation and the launch of a clean water scheme.
Thanks to fundraising efforts and your generous donations throughout the past twelve months, we are overjoyed to commit £25,000 to create The Lakes Distillery Water Fund.
The new scheme, designed to support community and volunteer-led groups in their efforts to deliver water quality schemes across Cumbria, is available for application from 7 February until 21 March 2022.
As well as being able to provide these funds, our fantastic team will donate some of their time to helping with some of the projects.
Aligning with our ambition to have a positive impact on the environment, in particular our home of the Lake District National Park, we are proud to be working with a charity that has over 20 years of experience in sustainable development.
We are delighted to launch this new Water Grant Fund thanks to the generosity of The Lakes Distillery.
We are keen to award funding to the very best community-led projects in the Lake District which make a lasting improvement to water quality in our rivers and lakes.
Sarah Smith, Lake District Foundation Operations Manager
To be considered for funding, projects must focus on water quality in the Lake District and demonstrate that they will contribute to at least one of the following objectives: Pollution prevention and mitigation, habitat creation and protection, invasive species control, species conservation, or education.
As part of The Lake District community, our sense of responsibility is long-standing but trying to do good within the distillery alone is not nearly enough. That is why we are excited to be able to support the fantastic work Sarah and the team at The Foundation do to protect and care for our National Park.
Working toward a common goal, we cannot wait to see the projects that come out of the Water Fund, and for our team to have the chance to spend time helping to deliver some of them.
Nigel Mills, Co-founder and CEO
The Lakes Distillery Water Fund opens on Monday 7 February at 9:00am, with projects from community and volunteer-led groups welcome to apply. Applications for the scheme will close on Monday 21 March at 5:00pm.
