Love Letters from Britain, a new series of documentary-style films, uncovering the untold stories behind British Luxury Brands, launches this week.
Produced by BBC StoryWorks Commercial Productions for Walpole, the association for British luxury brands, and including stories supported by the GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign, Love Letters from Britain aims to inspire a global audience by showcasing creative individuals and innovative businesses changing the face of a sector worth £48bn to the UK economy.
Featuring some of the UK’s best-loved brands including Bentley, dunhill, Jo Malone London, Molton Brown, The Balvenie, The London Sock Company, Bicester Village, and ourselves, this unique series explores why British brands lead the way in defining a new era of luxury.
As a comparatively new brand, we are overjoyed to be featured in Love Letters from Britain and be amongst such illustrious company. To have the opportunity to share on a global stage how we are seeking to innovate and put English whisky on the map is invaluable.
Kirsty Taylor, Marketing Director, The Lakes Distillery.
The films build upon a culture of innovation and adaptation, balancing heritage and modernity, and focusing on creativity and craftsmanship underpinned by a core commitment to sustainable practices. The series looks at what ‘luxury’ means today, examines its relevance, and shows exactly why the UK’s luxury businesses are so fundamental to the country’s appeal all around the world.
At its core, whiskymaking is a creative and artistic process. It is steeped in tradition and, while we respect its heritage, our ambition at The Lakes is to not only look at what whisky is, but what it can become.
Dhavall Gandhi, whiskymaker, The Lakes Distillery.
The British luxury sector is one of the UK’s greatest export success stories, with 80% of its production destined for overseas markets. Love Letters from Britain brings to life exactly why the very best of British creative, entrepreneurial, and innovative talent is the secret of the UK’s international success, and why these iconic brands are a powerful and alluring calling card for the country.
